Community

Located in the heart of the Red River Valley at the intersection of Interstates 94 and 29, Moorhead, Minn., is a regional center for education, agribusiness, processing, marketing and research. A friendly community with a population of 38,000, the city enjoys the amenities and conveniences of being a part of the Fargo-Moorhead metropolitan area with a population of more than 173,000.

The community has been recognized for having a high quality of life and being a great place to raise a family because of the clean, safe environment, sound business climate and variety of educational opportunities. The area's competitive salaries and low cost of living contribute to its economic success.

Moorhead is literally a stone's throw away from Fargo, N.D., which lies just across the Red River. The Fargo-Moorhead area is served by an international airport, Amtrak and several bus lines.

Housing options for every lifestyle are available in Moorhead, including modern condominiums, renovated Victorian homes and attractive new single-family homes on golf courses. Moorhead has more than 500 serviced lots available for new home construction.

Lifelong education is a major focus in Moorhead. With Minnesota State University-Moorhead (part of the Minnesota State University System), Concordia College (a Lutheran liberal arts college), M State (Minnesota State Community and Technical College), Rasmussen College in Moorhead and North Dakota State University and other institutions in Fargo, educational services are a vital part of the community.

Arts, culture, recreation and sports flourish in Moorhead. Local talent supports a community theater, a symphony orchestra, dance companies, art galleries and museums. Concerts and shows are held in the Fargodome, a 25,000-seat indoor sports and entertainment stadium. Area colleges produce many theatrical and musical performances each year, and Moorhead High School has award-winning theater and music programs with performances throughout the school year.

The area is home to the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, a minor-league baseball franchise of the Northern League, and the Fargo Force, a junior hockey league of the United States Hockey League, as well as college and high school teams. Community parks and recreational facilities offer a wide range of activities and organized sports. Area residents also enjoy proximity to Minnesota's lake country.
